Matt Smith 1st Degree Black Belt (I)
Mr. Matt Smith (I) is an Assistant Instructor for Maynooth Taekwon-Do School.
He began training in 2011 under Mr. Gareth Curran (VI). Throughout his time in Taekwon-Do Mr. Smith has competed both on a national and international level. He has participated in seminars and master classes under Grandmaster Brendan O'Toole, Grandmaster Val Douglas and Master Gerry Martin, and received training in self-defence and awareness. Before beginning training in Taekwon-Do Mr. Smith competed in Judo competitions, captaining his college team to bronze in the 1987 UK Polytechnic National championships (London). During the 1980s Mr. Smith also trained in several other martial arts including Shotokan Karate and Lau Gar Kung-Fu.
Mr. Smith was awarded his 1st degree black belt by the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) in June 2015 and is currently training for his 2nd degree.

- Commenced training in 2011 at Maynooth Taekwon-Do School.
- Continues to train at Maynooth Taekwon-Do School.

- Awarded Taekwon-Do 1st Degree Black Belt by the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF) in June 2015
