Sparring - 3-step, semi-free Sparring

General Information

3-step semi-free sparring is a precursor to free sparring. The two students face each other and bow before stepping back into a right L-stance while performing an outer forearm middle guarding block. On the command to begin one of the students (decided by the instructor) performs 3 techniques while the other student defends. The roles are then reversed with the other student having the chance to attack. This routine is followed until the instructor calls time.

3-step semi-free sparring teaches the student to perform a combination of different techniques, defend against such techniques and provides them with the ability to correctly judge distances and exhibit self-control.
